The Personal Success Board (PSB)

As we have seen, Napoleon Hill developed the concept of a mastermind group of people – mainly entrepreneurs and business leaders who meet to share ideas. This aligns perfectly with my own belief that business success is not an individual journey. There’s an old saying, ‘It takes a village to raise a child’. Much like raising children, building a business is a community-led initiative, requiring a selection of key stakeholders.

Even though our first book was entitled Self Made and we meant it in the sense of ‘to become successful from one’s own efforts’, that doesn’t mean that your network and stakeholder relationships will not be instrumental in that journey.

When we think of larger companies, they have a board of directors who act as a support system for the business by providing expertise, experience and consultancy to guide the trajectory and ensure the success of the business. As an entrepreneur, you will also need a team to support your vision across various aspects – namely life, business and future prospects. You can see this as your personal success board (PSB) or as a matrix of people who can help you achieve your goals – an entrepreneur stakeholder matrix, if you will.

There are nine roles within the entrepreneur’s PSB, which in turn can be sorted into three broad categories. They are as follows …
